Playing The Waiting Game

If there is a possibility that something can go wrong it will…that seems to always be the case when it comes to me and my infertility journey.

Last week my phone follow-up with Dr.Kwak-Kim was supposed to take place, but things didn’t go as planned. Three weeks ago my father invited me on a dive trip to the Galapagos Islands and I couldn’t resist. The only problem…..I would be in Ecuador when my appointment was supposed to take place.  Originally I had tried to change the appointment, but they couldn’t get me another time slot until May and that was not going to cut it for me. I had to figure out a plan B, because I didn’t want to miss out on this trip. I knew that my phone wouldn’t have service as I don’t have an international plan on  and I didn’t feel like going through the steps to get it working abroad. But, it would all be ok because another phone would work and I could use that number. So, I called the office and explained to them the situation and had them write down the number to call me on. The front office assistant assured me that the new number was in my file and I would be called on that number for the scheduled time.

Everything was planned and I was ready for the phone call.

But, nope. Things never work out as planned.

Turns out Dr. Kwak-Kim doesn’t look at the notes provided to her by the staff and she continually dialed my cell phone number that wasn’t turned on. I never received the call and by the time I waited around for the phone to ring and then tried to find internet to look up her number the office was closed. The phone consult was a no go. I was upset that there was a mix up but realized that I couldn’t dwell on it and would have to figure things out when I got back to the states.

Now I am back in the states and am still in limbo as I wait to get scheduled for the phone consult. Luckily, the office realizes it was their mistake as I had everything planned out and they are trying to squeeze me into a new time slot very soon.

I am frustrated that I have to wait a little bit longer to see what Dr.Kwak-Kim has to say, but I am also willing to wait as I wouldn’t have wanted to miss out on the amazing trip I took.

I’ll post more pictures of my trip once I get them organized.

  1. I am sorry tht you have to wait to get results from Dr Kwak Kim. Actually, in our case the nurse uploaded almost all results few days in portal few days before our apointment. Getting Dr KK’s apoinment (even if it is a phone apt) is hard.. Wishing you good luck friend!!. I would say it will be worth waiting for.. I feel really good and promising in her protocol so far..

    1. The wait has been hard, but luckily the turnaround time isn’t to bad. Im jealous they uploaded your results first, they told me they wouldn’t upload until I spoke with the doctor. So glad that the protocol she assigned you is working out. xo

  2. Wow what an amazing trip! I’m so glad you decided to go for it. Literally can’t wait to see more pictures. I try not to have regrets but I sincerely wish I would have traveled and planned trips not banking on that I “may be pregnant”. I hope you and Dr. KK get in touch soon.

    1. Thank You. I know exactly what you mean. For the past three years it seems that I can’t plan anything due to thinking I may be pregnant or IVF. So having this wonderful last minute trip was much needed. xo

  3. Even though your clinic screwed things up, at least they’re acknowledging their mistake and trying to fix it, even if doing so does extend your waiting time. But in the meantime, you got to take what looks like a simply amazing, beautiful trip! Maybe you needed that getaway and respite more than you needed to go to that appointment at that time in your life. I like to think of it as a blessing in disguise!

    1. They did work with me to squeeze me into a new time slot, so that was nice. The trip was wonderful, but the stress of the call being made to the wrong number was not so nice, but it all worked out in the end.
